Joyce A. LaFond, 76, of Channahon, and formerly of Momence, passed away Monday (Aug. 27, 2018) at her daughter’s home in Channahon.
She was born Jan. 2, 1942, in Momence, the daughter of Claude and Mary Fancher Ewers.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Roger Gill, of Channahon, and Shelly and Michael Bolmer, of Lawrenceville; one son and daughter-in-law, Daryle “Butch” and Kimberly LaFond, of Watseka; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles “Buddy” and Judy Ewers, of Chicago Heights; one sister and brother-in-law, Katherine “Kay” and James “Twig” Merrill, of Momence; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Gerald W. “Bill” Ewers and John “Jack” Ewers; one sister, Joan Doud; and one son, Steven LaFond.
She was a bartender for more than 40 years at the Buckhorn in Momence.
Joyce’s hobbies included reading, cooking and games of chance.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial visitation will be from 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, until the 7 p.m. memorial service at Cotter Funeral Home in Momence. The Rev. Carol Currier-Frighetto will officiate.
