Patriots Can’t Get It Done on Brand New Turf
The first game on the new artificial turf at North Middlesex Regional didn’t go exactly as planned.
The Patriots’ girls’ lacrosse team opened play on the turf Monday, falling to Shrewsbury, 22-11.
Jordon Highley led the way for North Middlesex (6-8), scoring 5 goals. Aimee Stairs added 4 goals in the loss.
Holly Hruskoci potted 8 goals and had 2 assists to lead the way for Shrewsbury (9-7).
The Patriots return to action Thursday, hosting Nashoba Regional.

FITCHBURG 10, Tyngsboro 2 — Zach Scott paced the Red Raiders, notching 3 hits and scoring 3 times while driving in a run.
SUTTON 6, St. Bernard’s 0 — The Bernardians (7-8) got just one hit, a single by Andrew Gardiner. Anthony DiNardo struck out 8 in a losing effort.
LUNENBURG 5, Oakmont 4 — Brayden Gendron had a pair of hits and scored twice for the Blue Knights (5-7) and Braeden Nash added an RBI.
Sophomore hurler Alan Hyatt went the distance for Lunenburg.
Jack Batten notched 2 hits for Oakmont (8-5).
NASHOBA 3, Hudson 0 — Remi Barney blasted a home run and Andrew Ahlquist had 2 RBI to lead the Chieftains (9-4).
Ryan Donovan scattered 5 hits over 7 innings to earn the win in Bolton.
WACHUSETT 1, Leominster 0 — Pat Gallagher struck out 9 and belted a double for Leominster (9-7) in the loss.
WEST BOYLSTON 7, Ayer Shirley 4 — Nate Hunt and Chris Rooney each had 2 hits for the Panthers (8-9), which also fell 8-0 in a second game as the Lions swept a doubleheader.

ST. BERNARD’S 21, Worcester North 1 — Erin Haverty tossed a complete game for the Bernardians, striking out 8 and allowing just a pair of hits. Lissa Hoyt went 4-for-5 with 3 RBI and Alyssa Thibodeau was 3-for-4 with a pair driven in.
BLACKSTONE VALLEY 9, Monty Tech 4 — Cassie Skinner picked up her 100th career hit in the loss, going 1-for-3 and driving in a pair. Bailey Tammaro added a double and scored for the Bulldogs (9-4, 6-3 CAL).
Kristinna Sigurdsson stuck out 5 batters for Monty Tech.
The Beavers (16-0, 11-0) clinched the league title with the victory.
WACHUSETT 12, Leominster 0 — Liz Leger’s double was the lone hit for the Blue Devils (7-8).
OAKMONT 8, Lunenburg 1 — Kylie Lison went 2-for-3 and Emma Simkewicz belted a home run for the Spartans (10-2) in the win over the Blue Knights (1-11).
HUDSON 4, Nashoba 1 — The loss drops the Chieftains to 10-6.
TYNGSBORO 12, Fitchburg 0 — The Red Raiders are now 2-13.
LUNENBURG 12, St. Peter-Marian 4 — Declan Fitzpatrick scored 3 goals and added 4 assists to lead the Blue Knights (11-4) to victory on its home turf, while Dawson Powell had pair of goals and 2 helpers. Connor Viviano had a goal and 3 assists to reach the 100-point mark for his career.
ST. BERNARD’S 10, Nashoba 9 — Michael Hougham (2 assists) and Mike Provencher (assist) each had 3 goals to lead the Bernardians (14-2).
St. Bernard’s Mick Ginnity (2 assists) and Dom Valera each potted 2 goals and Declan Fluharty turned aside 15 shots to earn the win.
Rory Boots, Sam Vanasse and Will Falla each scored twice for Nashoba (10-5).
HUDSON 18, Sizer 0 — The Eagles remain winless, falling to 0-8.
ADV. MATH 16, Monty Tech 9 — Mayling Tedstone scored 3 times for the Bulldogs (6-10), while Abby Salilla and Claire Peterson each potted a pair of goals.
ST. PETER-MARIAN 17, St. Bernard’s 6 — The Bernardians drop to 2-10 after falling in Worcester.
TYNGSBORO 19, Oakmont 5 — The Spartans are 5-9 following Monday’s loss.
LEOMINSTER 4, Fitchburg 1 — The Blue Devils (6-6) swept a doubleheader, topping the Red Raiders 4-1 in each.
Teddy Housser went 2-0 in singles action for Leominster, while Dom Allain and Nick Carter also notched victories. The first doubles team of Jeff Epro and Marty Zimei and the second doubles tandem of Bobby Davis and Nick Maffeo each earned a pair of victories on the afternoon.
Sam Boudreau and Juan Rodriguez picked up singles wins for Fitchburg (1-12).
BROMFIELD 4, North Middlesex 1 — The Patriots also lost 5-0 to Bromfield, falling to 5-5 on the season.
Caleb Amidon picked up the lone victory for North Middlesex, topping Jake Catalina in first singles, 8-5, during the second match of the doubleheader.
WEST BOYLSTON 3, Leominster 2 — Julia DeAmicis picked up a win in second singles, while the second doubles team of Jamie Whitney and Grace Juma also won for Leominster (1-9).
BROMFIELD 5, North Middlesex 0 — The Patriots are now 2-10.
LEOMINSTER 3, Fitchburg 2 — The Blue Devils (13-3) won by scores of 25-23, 23-25, 20-25, 25-12, 15-10.
Seniors Eric Jenny, Seeley Thao, Kurt Edmands, Ruchit Patel and Johnathan Cha played well for the Blue Devils on Senior Night.
Monty Tech compiled 26 points to finish eighth overall at the Colonial Athletic League meet, which was won by Worcester Tech (130 points).
