Power Defeat Courage 2-1

CARY, N.C. (AP) _ Anita Rapp and Cheryl Salisbury scored goals in a seven-minute span of the first half as the New York Power beat the Carolina Courage 2-1 on Saturday night.

New York (7-7-2) improved to .500 for the first time since May 10, and won on the road for the first time since beating San Jose 2-0 on June 8. The loss ended Carolina’s three-game winning streak.

Rapp scored in the 30th minute off a long crossing pass from Shannon Box. Salisbury made it 2-0 in the 37th minute, one-timing a long chip from Jaclyn Raveia past goalkeeper Kristin Luckenbill.

Marcia Wallis scored in stoppage time for the Courage (5-7-3).
