DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A man convicted in the slayings of two men in a home invasion robbery in suburban Philadelphia has been sentenced to life in prison.

A Bucks County judge sentenced 28-year-old Eric Dillard to serve two consecutive life terms instead of the death penalty.

Three men were found tied up at a home in Bristol Township in July 2014 with gunshot wounds to the head. Two of the men died and one survived.

Explaining her decision Monday, Judge Rea Boylan says while Dillard has a violent record he did not file the fatal shots.

Dillard's defense attorney says the alleged shooter, Anthony King, was killed a few weeks after the robbery. Another man prosecutors say participated in the robbery testified against Dillard at his trial.
