WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) _ Chuckie Dukes gained 148 yards on 17 carries and scored a touchdown Saturday as Boston College gave Army a dose of its own medicine in beating the Cadets 28-17.

Army (3-4), No. 2 nationally in rushing at 354 yards a game, fell behind 21-0 at intermission as the Eagles (2-5) ran for 226 yards while holding Army to 81. It was the first time this season the Cadets failed to score in the first half, and they couldn't recover.

The Eagles, with the help of a 15-yard personal foul penalty, went ahead 7-0 with 4:57 left in the first quarter. The penalty nullified a 43-yard punt by Todd Hawkins and gave Boston College the ball at the Army 44.

Seven straight running plays netted 25 yards before Glenn Foley, who had thrown only two passes to that point, went to the air again. Pete Klein drifted free on the left side and Foley hit him with a 19-yard scoring pass.

Quarterback Myreon Williams gave Army a brief spark with a 31-yard run as the Cadets moved to the BC 21, their deepest penetration of the first half. But the drive stalled and Patmon Malcom missed a 38-yard field goal.

The Eagles, behind David Green and Dukes, then began to gobble up huge chunks of yardage on the ground, moving 63 yards to the Army 16 in only seven plays. But linebacker Rick Pressel intercepted Foley at the 8 and a 15-yard penalty against BC gave Army the ball at its 44. However, the Cadets were forced to punt after only three plays.

The Eagles went ahead 14-0, driving 82 yards in less than three minutes. Dukes, who began the drive with a 26-yard gain, ended it with a 19-yard run up the middle with 9:58 left in the second quarter. Dukes gained 118 yards on 11 carries in the half.

Army, which managed only three first downs in the half, punted again after only three plays and BC made it 21-0 with three minutes left. Dukes had runs of 17 and 5 yards, Foley hit Mark Chmura with a 28-yard pass to the Army 5 and Green scored three plays later on a 1-yard run.

Darnell Campbell's 1-yard run midway through the third quarter gave the Eagles a 28-point lead.

Army rallied for 17 points in the fourth quarter to avert its first shutout since 1983. Callian Thomas scored on a 1-yard run with 7:21 left, BC punter Bill Kushner ran into his own end zone for a safety with 1:41 left after a bad snap, and backup quarterback Devin Hartfield scored on a 7-yard run with 40 seconds left. Hartfield's two-point conversion run gave Army its final points.

Williams had 77 yards rushing for Army, which managed only 210 yards on the ground. Green finished with 84 yards for BC, which finished with 247 yards rushing and 152 through the air.
