SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) _ Steve Papin rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns to lead Portland State to a 54-16 defeat of Sacramento State on Saturday night.

Portland’s record improved to 3-2 while Sacramento remained winless at 0-3-1.

The Viking offense amassed 491 yards. Portland scored 38 unanswered points to break an early 9-9 tie and take a 47-9 lead. Eric Kiesau passed for 203 yards and two touchdowns in his first collegiate start for the Vikings.

Portland State’s special teams contributed to three scores, including one blocked punt for a touchdown and two field goals after Hornet fumbles. One fumble was on a kickoff, the other on a punt return.

Meanwhile, Portland State’s defense limited the Hornets to 252 total yards, including just 81 rushing. Sacramento State’s Tony Corbin completed just 10 of 26 passes for 98 yards and was intercepted once for a Viking touchdown.
