McNeese St. 45, SE Oklahoma St. 10
LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) _ Henry Fields scored three touchdowns for No. 1-ranked McNeese State, paving the way for a 45-10 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma on Saturday.
Fields, a senior tailback who entered the season with more than 3,000 career rushing yards, ran for 132 yards on 14 carries and scored on runs of 1, 70 and 26 yards.
Defensively, the Cowboys held Southeastern Oklahoma (1-1) to 240 yards, 26 of them on the ground.
McNeese also got two touchdown passes from senior Kerry Joseph, who threw strikes to Damien Joseph from 15 yards out and to Terence Davis from 17 yards out.
Joseph, who threw for three touchdowns last week, retired early in the second half after completing 10 of 19 passes for 159 yards.
The other McNeese scores of the game came from backup quarterback Tim Leger on a 14-yard run and from place kicker Jose Larios on a 29-yard field goal.
Southeastern Oklahoma scored all its points in the second half, a touchdown in the final seconds of the third quarter on a 26-yard pass from Chris Enloe to Lamar Lowe, and on a 52-yard field goal by Eric Nuber as time ran out.
