Stratford man charged with DUI after nearly running over Milford Police Officer

MILFORD-A Stratford man is under arrest after nearly running over a police officer during a motor vehicle stop on Bridgeport Avenue Saturday.

Police charged Robert Sutton, IV, 45, of Horace Street, Stratford, with driving under the influence, evading responsiblity and interfering with an arrest. Bond was set at $500 pending an April 11 appearance in Superior Court.

Police said they called to the McDonald’s Restaurant on Bridgeport Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday on a report of an accident in the drive through area. Upon seeing police arrive Sutton allegedly to drive from the scene nearly striking an officer in the process, police said.

Additional patrol cruisers arrived and blocked him from proceeding further. Police said they smelled alochol on Sutton’s breath but he refused to submit to a breathalyzer.
