Weather Forces Playoff Postponements
For the second consecutive weekend, weather has played a role in District 2 teams and postseason football. Last week, all playoffs games were moved to Saturday because of rain. This week, it is because of predicted snow and ice that is supposed to hit the area beginning sometime this afternoon. That means all games scheduled for Friday night, will now be played Saturday. Dallas will play at Valley View 7 p.m. on Saturday night for the District 2 Class 4A championship and with a berth in the state tournament on the line. The other district championship game on Saturday is Lakeland at Scranton Prep, and that will remain at its original time and site, at Scranton Memorial Stadium at 1 p.m. In the Class 6A state playoffs, Delaware Valley will play State College at 2 p.m. at Hazleton Area. In Class 2A, Dunmore will play West Catholic at Northern Lehigh High School at 1 p.m., while Tri-Valley will play Lackawanna Trail in the Class A state playoffs at 7 p.m. at Scranton Memorial Stadium. That game was originally scheduled for the afternoon at North Pocono. In Class 5A, Wallenpaupack will play Hollidaysburg at 1 p.m.
