WNBA Suspends Player for Fighting
CLEVELAND (AP) _ Cleveland’s Tracy Henderson was suspended for two games and four Detroit players were disciplined for their roles in a fight during the Rockers-Shock WNBA game Friday night, the league announced Saturday.
Tracy Henderson was also fined $2,000 for fighting.
Detroit’s Dominique Canty and Val Whiting were each suspended for one game and fined $1,000, and Astou Ndiaye was given a one-game suspension and $500 fine for leaving the vicinity of the bench. Detroit’s Cindy Brown also was fined $750 for helping initiate the altercation.
The fight took place with 5:24 remaining in the game. Henderson, Whiting and Brown were ejected from the game and Detroit coach Nancy Lieberman-Cline was given a technical foul.
Detroit beat the Rockers 69-60.
