Man dies after deputies use Tasers during arrest
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (AP) — Southern California authorities are investigating the death of a man after sheriff’s deputies used Tasers to try to subdue him during an arrest.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department says deputies were called Monday afternoon to a street in San Juan Capistrano where the man was reportedly acting erratically and entering and exiting businesses.
A department statement says the man resisted as deputies tried to arrest him so they deployed their Tasers.
The man then became unresponsive and deputies and paramedics administered CPR but he was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The man is described as being in his 20s. His name is being withheld until the coroner notifies next of kin.
