Feeney, Billerica Blank Acton-Boxboro

Junior goaltender Connor Feeney collected his third shutout of the season as the Billerica High boys hockey team nipped Acton-Boxboro, 1-0, at the Hallenborg Ice Pavillion on Wednesday.

In girls action, Methuen/Tewksbury skated past Lincoln-Sudbury, 8-2, Shrewsbury downed Billerica/Chelmsford, 5-1, and St. Joseph’s topped Shawsheen Tech, 9-2.

Feeney finished with 22 saves in blanking the Colonials.

Defenseman Matt Livingston scored the lone goal, ripping a slap shot into the A-B cage in the second period for his sixth goal of the season. Picking up assists on the play for Billerica (5-2-2) were Matt Covino and Garrett Murphy.

Billerica’s defensemen played well.

Nashoba Tech 6

Essex Tech 3

Steve Lubineer led the way by scoring 3 goals and added 1 assist to help the Vikings improve to 4-5 on the season with the CAL victory.

Connor LeFebvre added a goal and 2 assists and Matt Venti added 1 goal and 1 assist for Nashoba Tech.

Chelmsford 2

Melrose 2

The Lions rallied twice from deficit to earn the non-league tie on the road.

Junior forward Christian Gastonguay netted both goals for Chelmsford (4-1-3). Earning an assist each were Jared Huggins, Brett Nolan and Kevin Stolki. Gastonguay’s second goal, six minutes into the third period, capped the scoring.

Drew Blodgett made 24 saves for the Lions.

Ben Hays was the lone player on the Tigers (5-2-1) to score 2 goals, while Justin Montepeluso, Ryan Hunt, Tim Kelleher, Sam Dunn, James Peterson, Alex Magan and Johnny Corrieri added single tallies.

Magan, Ryan Hunt and Sean Keefe had 2 assists each. Littleton held a commanding 33-11 advantage in shots.

Lowell Catholic 2

Shrewsbury 2

Despite a 2-goal performance by Lowell resident by Connor Doherty, the Crusaders settled for a non-league road tie.

Alex Graves and Mike DiBacco pocketed an assist each. Colin Gleason made 20 saves in goal for Lowell Catholic.

Lincoln-Sudbury 3

Tewksbury 0

Despite giving up just 14 shots on net, the Redmen were defeated in a MVC/DCL Division 2 contest.

L-S led 2-0 heading into the third and iced it with an empty-netter. Tewksbury (6-3-0) goalie Chase Perault made 12 saves.

The Cardinals blanked the Manchester school at Skate 3 in Tyngsboro thanks to a seven-save effort by goaltender Nick Hall, who notched his first shutout.

Aaron Pratt of Groton netted a hat trick for BG (3-5, 3-2 NHIAA). Netting a goal each were Ben Young, Mike Kiley, Sean Kelley of Dunstable and Declan Wilkie of Groton.

Young and Mike Schaaf had 2 assists each.

Andover 5

Westford Academy 2

Goalie Joe Cornetta had a strong game turning away 26 shots, but that wasn’t enough as the Grey Ghosts (4-5) were defeated in a MVC/DCL Division 1 contest.

Dylan Breen and Ryan McCarthy scored single goals.

Lunenburg/Ayer Shirley 6

North Middlesex 1

Jacob Mauro scored twice and added 3 assists for the Blue Knights (5-2-1). Matthew Albert scored a pair of goals and Connor Viviano added a goal and an assist.

Nathan Handy also potted a goal for the Blue Knights, while Anthony Firmani made 21 saves.

Trent Costa scored the lone goal for North Middlesex (3-4) and Thomas Kelly stopped 32 shots in a losing effort.

Wakefield 3

Wilmington 1

The Wildcats fell to 4-4 on the season, despite holding a 31-20 advantage in shots. Matt Pendenza scored his first varsity goal on the power play with an assist going to senior captain Connor Benoit.

Junior goalie Anthony Cuozzo made 18 saves.
