NBC Admits Error on Game Switch
NEW YORK (AP) _ NBC admits it was wrong to switch away from the end of the New York Knicks-Miami Heat game Sunday before showing a replay of the disputed last play.
After referees ruled that Allan Houston’s follow shot, which would have given the Knicks the win, came after the final buzzer, NBC immediately switched its audience to Seattle for a brief introduction by Bob Costas for the SuperSonics-Rockets game.
NBC then went to commercial before showing the start of the Seattle game, which had been delayed by the end of the first contest. With 6:02 left in the first quarter in Seattle, NBC returned to Miami to air three replays that clearly showed Houston’s shot got off on time.
``We probably made a mistake and could have stayed with the game a little bit longer just to close the loop on it,″ NBC Sports spokesman Ed Markey said Monday.
