Disturbance on Dock Cancels Boat Party For Snoop Doggy Dogg
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ A dockside brawl broke out at a yacht party for the release of a new album by rapper Snoop Doggy Dogg and three people were arrested.
No injuries were reported Monday night when 70 deputies were sent to disperse crowds in Marina Del Rey, said Benita Hinojos, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokeswoman.
Snoop Doggy Dogg’s name was on invitations for the party to promote the album ″Doggy Style,″ but there was no immediate confirmation he was aboard the chartered yacht, Deputy Roger Hom said.
Snoop Doggy Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, faces trial on a charge of murder with aforethought in an Aug. 25 shooting. He allegedly was driving a vehicle from which his bodyguard shot and killed a man. Broadus pleaded innocent and is free on $1 million bond.
The captain of the 165-foot yacht Lord Hornblower called the Sheriff’s Department late Monday and ″reported a riot on board and approximately 150 people fighting on the dock,″ Hinojos said.
″The captain was concerned for the safety of his 42 crew members because many of the 500 guests on the yacht were hostile,″ Hinojos said.
In addition, about 50 people refused entrance to the crowded boat refused to let it depart.
A message left with Death Row records, the rapper’s label, late Monday seeking comment on the incident was not returned.
