Trump rain deferments, stormy mood: Darcy cartoon

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Donald Trump was awarded five deferments from the Vietnam war for bone spurs.  It appears Commander-in-Chief Trump awarded himself rain deferments from attending Armistice Anniversary and Veterans Day cemetery ceremonies.

Due to rain, Trump skipped a ceremony at the Aisne-Marne American cemetery in France, commemorating the Armistice Anniversary.   He doubled down on no shows due to rain on Veterans Day when he stayed in the White House instead of making the traditional presidential visit to Arlington National Cemetery.

The soldiers buried in Arlington and the Aisne-Marne American cemetery fought and died in rain, snow and mud to win and preserve our freedoms and democracy from tyranny.  Trump appeared more interested in preserving his hairdo and spray tan from the rain.

Trump’s Armistice Anniversary and Arlington snubs are just the latest proof that Trump posing as the champion of the armed forces is just another Trump con job.

A real Commander-in-Chief and true champion of the armed forces would have showed up at the Aisne-Marne and Arlington cemeteries.   They would not have sent 5,000 American troops to the border with Mexico in a blatant midterm election stunt that will keep them away from their families on Thanksgiving Day.

Trumps mood has been far gloomier than the weather in Paris and Washington D.C. on Veterans Day weekend.

Since Trump can’t handle raindrops, it comes as no surprise he can’t handle the approaching storm of Democrats controlling the House and pending indictments from Robert Mueller’s investigation.

Reports have described Trump as being self-sequestered in the White House, stewing in a “Cocoon of Bitterness.”

Initially it was thought Trump was just agitated by the realization that the midterms did in fact generate a ‘Blue Wave’ and not “an almost complete victory” for him as he had claimed.

Angry tweets from Trump have made clear the main source of his irritation is developments in Mueller’s investigation.

Trump, guided by his lawyers, is said to be in the process of answering written questions from Mueller.   Trump could also now be getting inside information on the Mueller investigation from his newly installed acting Attorney General.   In addition he may be getting tipped off on dire developments from Don Jr. and his lawyers.  Regardless of the source of the information, it’s clear the information is not good for Trump.

Trump’s foul mood and tweets are not the only sign that more shoes are likely about to drop in the Mueller investigation.   Mueller’s prosecutors have asked for a delay in the sentencing of Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort.    In their request to the Judge, Mueller’s team said that in the span of 10 days the Judge will have significant new clarification on the case to sentence Manafort.

The quality of Manafort’s cooperation with Mueller will impact the severity of his sentence.   In addition to being a longtime business associate of Roger Stone, Manafort attended the infamous Don Jr. meeting with Russians promising dirt on Hillary Clinton.     Neither Stone or Don Jr. have been called before a Mueller Grand Jury, which would seem to indicate they are among the targets of the investigation.

President Trump, who is fond of wearing a coat of spray tan orange, may have found out that Don Jr. is now at real risk of wearing prison orange with a coming Mueller indictment for Christmas.
