Heard on the Street: New marketing chief joins Mayo Clinic
Mayo Clinic has a new chief temporarily in charge of its marketing department.
Maureen Bausch took on the interim role of chief marketing officer in May. She took on the temporary role as Mayo Clinic makes adjustments to the department.
“Maureen Bausch is serving as Mayo Clinic’s interim marketing leader as Mayo defines the roles and responsibilities of a chief marketing officer for Mayo Clinic. She brings a wealth of business and marketing experience to bear as we look to further position Mayo Clinic in the United States and around the globe,” wrote Karl Oestreich, Mayo Clinic’s director of Public Affairs.
Bausch is a very high-profile executive in Minnesota. She served as CEO of Minnesota’s non-profit host committee for Super Bowl LII last year.
Prior to that, Bausch worked at the Mall of America in Bloomington, starting in 1990, two years before it opened. She led the business development of the mall until she left for the Super Bowl gig.
She spent her early days in marketing at Cub Foods, which was founded by her father Charlie Hooley. Hooley was also a former mayor of Stillwater.
At Mayo Clinic, Bausch reports to Chair of Public Affairs Chris Gade. Marketing is part of the public affairs department.
Bausch joins at a time of transition for Mayo Clinic as it is choosing a successor for the retiring CEO Dr. John Noseworthy.
Oestreich stressed that changes in leadership in marketing and elsewhere is something the clinic knows how to handle.
“As you know, transitions at Mayo Clinic are orderly and seamless,” he wrote.
