LINE: Notre Dame by 12 1-2.
Series record: tied 3-3.
WHAT’S AT STAKE
Syracuse is searching for its first victory against a top-10 team since they beat No. 8 Virginia Tech 50-42 in three overtimes in 2002. Notre Dame is looking to stay unbeaten before it gets into the meat of a schedule which includes No. 16 Stanford (Oct. 4), North Carolina (Oct. 11) and at Florida State (Oct. 18).
Syracuse’s defensive front seven, led by DE Micah Robinson and LBs Cameron Lynch and Dyshawn Davis, vs. Notre Dame’s offensive line and running game. The Orange have been stingy against the run (104 yards allowed per game) and good at getting into the backfield. Syracuse is 25th in the country of tackles for loss per game at 7.3. The Irish running game has been OK, averaging 4.3 yards per attempt while splitting carries between Greg Bryant, Tarean Folston and Cam McDaniel. Syracuse loves to send pressure. A consistent Irish running game could take some of the heat off QB Everett Golson.
