GARRISON, N.D. (AP) — Sheriff's officials say a 26-year-old man died after he fell while riding on top of the trunk of a car after leaving a tavern in McLean County.

Authorities say Curtis Giffey, of Ryder, was fatally injured when he fell onto the street in Garrison early Sunday. The McLean County Sheriff's Department says Giffey and several others had just left a bar and were headed to another location in Garrison when Giffey fell. He was taken by air to Trinity Health in Minot where he died.

Besides the 26-year-old driver, two other passengers were in the vehicle. No one else was hurt.
