Bannock County Historical Society to meet Tuesday
POCATELLO — The Bannock County Historical Society will be meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the museum’s gallery at 3000 Avenue of the Chiefs. There will be a brief business meeting followed by a presentation from Ellen Ryan. She is the head of special collections and archives at Idaho State University, a position she has held since 2013. She holds an Master of Arts degree in history, with a concentration in historic preservation from Southeast Missouri State University and an Master of Library and Information Science with a concentration in archival studies from San Jose State University.
Ryan worked in and with several museum and historical societies before accepting her position at ISU: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Cape River Heritage Museum, Cape Girardeau, Missouri; The Glenn House, Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Clinton County Historical Association and Museum, Plattsburgh, New York; Adirondack History Museum, Elizabethtown, New York; Samuel de Champlain History Center, Champlain, New York; and Special Collections and Archives, Feinberg Library, SUNY Plattsburgh, Plattsburgh, New York. Her extensive and varied experience in archival practices will make this a very informative and helpful presentation for anyone wanting to organize and protect their family photos and records.
