LP volleyball fans asked to park in “F” Street parking lot

The La Porte High School athletic department is asking that La Porte fans and parents enter from door 23 off the “F” Street parking lot for the volleyball sectional this week, in order to allow for enough parking spots in the “I” Street lot.

Adams advances in La Porte Volleyball Sectional

South Bend Adams beat South Bend Riley in four games, 25-6, 24-26, 25-15, 25-20, in a Class 4A La Porte Volleyball Sectional opener Wednesday night. The Eagles advance to play South Bend Clay in a La Porte Sectional semifinal Saturday at 10 a.m. The Colonials got a bye.

Youth girls basketball league at La Porte High

A girls basketball league at La Porte High School’s fieldhouse is being held Nov. 3-Dec. 8 on Saturdays from 8-10:30 a.m. The dates are Nov. 3, Nov. 10, Nov. 17, Dec. 1, and Dec. 8. There’s no league on Nov. 24. It’s for girls in grades K-8th that attend any La Porte school. Become a better basketball player and make new friends. Cost is only $30 and includes a T-shirt. Area Football Sectional draw

The IHSAA announced pairings for the football sectionals on Sunday. In area play, La Porte travels to South Bend Adams in a Class 5A sectional opener, while Michigan City hosts Munster in that same sectional. Both the Slicers and Wolves get byes on Oct. 19, so they’ll each play their sectional openers on Oct. 26. If La Porte and City then win, they’ll play each other in the sectional final on Nov. 2 in La Porte.

New Prairie faces South Bend Washington on the road in the first round of a Class 4A sectional, while South Bend St. Joseph meets Kankakee Valley in another opener of that sectional. South Bend Clay and South Bend Riley play in the first round, and Mishawaka faces Hobart in another opener of that sectional. All of those first-round contests will be on Oct. 19.

South Central travels to West Central in a Class A sectional opener, and North Judson/LaVille meet in another first-round game in that sectional. Triton/Culver meet in the top part of that bracket, and Winamac/Caston play in another opener. All of those first-round contests will be on Oct. 19.

MC Rifle Club offers trap shooting
