ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) _ Singer Vic Damone, in the midst of a national farewell tour, canceled appearances this week at an Atlantic City casino after being hospitalized with flu-like symptoms.

Publicist Rob Wilcox said Damone, 72, felt ill Monday morning and was admitted to a New Jersey hospital.

Damone, who recorded such songs as ``You're Breaking My Heart'' and ``On the Street Where You Live,'' is in the middle of a tour that is scheduled to run until mid-2001.

Damone canceled appearances through Friday night at the Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort. Those appearances will be rescheduled in the fall.
