Poetry In Transit Returns To LCTA Buses This Year

March 29, 2019

Poets will once again have a chance to see their work displayed on Luzerne County Transportation Authority buses this year. Poetry in Transit, a program that showcases poems displayed on LCTA buses, is accepting submissions for the 2019-20 season. The deadline is May 10. The theme of this year’s competition is “Small.” Authors are invited to examine the concept any way they choose, according to a news release. All poems submitted must be no longer than six lines, and should avoid profanity, political messages or religious statements. Poems in any language, if accompanied by an English translation, will be accepted. Authors may submit up to three poems in the competition. A panel of judges from local colleges and universities will choose the winning poems, which will be featured on advertising displays inside LCTA buses from August 2019 until July 2020. For more information, or to submit poems, contact Jennifer Judge Yonkoski, Poetry in Transit coordinator, at papoetryintransit@gmail.com. — ERIC MARK
