Construction starts on The Lofts at Katy Boardwalk
Sueba Construction has started on the first phase of the residential component at the 169-acre Katy Boardwalk near Katy Mills Mall.
The Lofts at Katy Boardwalk will feature 319 loft-style luxury residences with two resort-style pools, a fitness center, resident lounge, business center, outdoor cabanas and grilling areas and on-site management. Nearly all residences in the first phase will be one or two-bedroom floor plans.
Sueba broke ground in March with completion expected by next spring.
“Our sense is these loft-style residences will be very well-received among working professionals seeking a new, highly-amenitized home in these types of mixed-used settings,” said Ray Gabriele, vice president of real estate development for Sueba USA Corp. in a December news release.

The residences are designed by Sueba Consulting Inc. and will be managed by Southampton Management Inc.
KBH will be responsible for the Hyatt Regency Katy Boardwalk Hotel & Conference Center on the site, which will also include approximately 155,000 square feet of retail space and 60,000 square feet of Class A office space.
Construction could start later this year on the hotel/convention center with an opening in late fall 2021, Jonas W. “Skip” Conner, president of the Katy Development Authority, said in January. KDA is a key agency in the boardwalk project.
