TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) _ Adia Barnes scored 34 points as No. 8 Arizona beat Texas A&M 84-59 Wednesday night.
Barnes was one point shy of her career best. She scored 20 points in the second half. Barnes also added 11 rebounds. Marte Alexander added 21 points.
Texas A&M was led by Kera Alexander’s 20 points. Prissy Sharpe, the Aggies’ leading scorer, was held to six.
The Wildcats, ranked in the top 10 for the first time in school history, had little trouble with an Aggies team that was unable to get its offense untracked in the first half.
The Aggies went just over 11 minutes without a field goal. In that span, the Wildcats increased a one-point lead to 27-11.
The Aggies made just 21 percent of their shots from the field and only 1-of-10 3-pointers in the first half. Texas A&M also had 17 turnovers.
Arizona shot 53 percent from the field as it built a 37-19 halftime lead.
Texas A&M got no closer than 16 points after intermission.
