Princess Margaret Returns Home

March 13, 1998

LONDON (AP) _ Princess Margaret, the 67-year-old sister of Queen Elizabeth II, was recovering at home today after leaving a hospital where she was treated for a mild stroke.

The princess was overcome by dizziness and a blinding headache while dining Feb. 23 at a friend’s villa in Mustique, an exclusive Grenadine island frequented by European royalty and rock stars.

She was hospitalized briefly in Barbados before flying home to England, where she was admitted to the King Edward VII Hospital for Officers in central London on Feb. 26.

She left the hospital late Thursday and is not expected to resume any official engagements in the immediate future.

``The princess has now returned to her home at Kensington Palace. She is continuing to make steady progress,″ a Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said.

Earlier this week, Prince Charles spent a day at the same hospital having laser surgery on his right knee to remove damaged cartilage. In January, the princess’ 97-year-old mother, the Queen Mother Elizabeth, was given a new hip there.
