Bridge work: Employees of Beech Construction, from Carnegie, continue work on the North Center Avenue bridge project in Somerset Wednesday afternoon. The bridge carries the roadway over the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Walter Wimer, engineer project manager for the commission, said crews removed the superstructure last weekend. “They need to remove the existing substructure and they are also in the process of building the new substructure for the replacement bridge,” he said. Wimer said traffic will continue using a temporary bridge throughout the winter. The project is expected to be complete by Oct. 25, 2019.
