Riverside Live! concerts start Friday
The Riverside Live! indoor concert series gets off to a busy start with concerts Friday by Chanticleer and Oct. 12 by the bluegrass duo Dailey & Vincent.
The concert series is presented by Riverside Concerts, the same folks who produce the popular outdoor Down by the Riverside concerts in the summer. Both concerts are at Mayo Civic Center’s Charles H. Mayo Presentation Hall.
A vocal music group like Chanticleer, of course, probably wouldn’t work at a large outdoor concert, where the delicate artistry of the 12 singers might get lost in the crowd. The Grammy Award-winning ensemble will present “Then and There, Here and Now,” a program marking Chanticleer’s 40th anniversary.
Chanticleer, based in San Francisco, will perform in 23 states and make two concert tours of Europe this year.
Tickets are $35 for the general public and $31.75 for members of Riverside Concerts.
Dailey & Vincent brings together two of the top talents in bluegrass music. Jamie Dailey is a four-time bluegrass vocalist of the year, and has harmonized on recordings by Dolly Parton and Ricky Skaggs. Darrin Vincent played in Skaggs’ band for 10 years. Long before that, though, he started performing with his family band, the Sally Mountain Show, at the young age of 2. Vincent has won five Grammy Awards and was voted Bluegrass Bass Player of the Year four times.
Tickets are $25 for the general public, or $22.75 for members. Tickets for both shows are available at the Riverside Concerts office in City Hall, at the civic center box office, through Ticketmaster online, and by phone at 507-328-2200.
Both concerts start at 7:30 p.m.
