Falcons’ Mitchell Awarded All-conference Honor
Fitchburg State sophomore midfielder Mikaela Mitchell earned a conference honor on Wednesday, being named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-Conference second team.
The first-year Falcon earned her first all-conference selection after ranking seventh in the conference with 19 points on eight goals scored and three assists, while starting all 16 contests for the Green and Gold from the midfield this season.
The Fitchburg State women’s soccer team recently concluded its 2018 season with an overall record of 3-12-1 and a 2-5 clip in MASCAC play.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Casey Collette, of Lunenburg, was recently named All-Liberty League Honorable Mention for her contributions to the RPI field hockey team.
Collette, a captain and Lunenburg High graduate, set personal career highs for goals (4), assists (4) and points (12). She had one game-winning goal and a defensive save in 18 games, all starts.
Heading into the season, the chemical engineering major played 42 games, tallying an assist and a defensive save.
The Engineers saw their season end in the Liberty League semifinals following a fourth-place finish in the conference standings with a 3-4 record. RPI was 6-12 overall.
