Great Lakes Brewing’s Christmas Ale party set: First Pour 2018

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The unofficial start of the holiday season, the First Pour party to hoist Christmas Ale at Great Lakes Brewing Co., is set for Thursday, Oct. 25.

The annual party draws thousands of beer lovers to Ohio City in what has become an all-day bash, and the busiest day of the year for the brewpub.

Santa will lug the keg in at 11 a.m., with the first pour set for 11:30 a.m. Beer-infused doughnuts from Brewnuts will be sold, classic and holiday tunes will spin, photos with Santa are available, and yule logs will be sold to benefit the Domestic Violence & Child Abuse Advocacy Center.

The ale will be available draft only on Oct. 25 – but no growler or crowler fills. On Friday, Oct. 26, bottles and kegs will be sold at Great Lakes gift shop. On Monday, Oct. 29, the ale will be sold in retail distribution.

Part of the festivities includes an annual contest to determine who will receive the first pour. Send a photo via the brewery’s website. (The contest runs to Friday, Dec. 28, for prizes, with Thursday, Oct. 11, the deadline for those who want to be considered for the first sip.) Here are details to enter.

Great Lakes is at 2516 Market Ave., Cleveland.
