Toronto highway partly shut after truck collision
BURLINGTON, Ontario (AP) — Part of a major highway in the Toronto area could be closed for days after a dump truck struck scaffolding on a bridge Thursday, bringing rush-hour traffic to a standstill.
Burlington Mayor Rick Goldring said in a tweet there is concern that the afternoon crash damaged the Burlington Skyway.
The Toronto-bound lanes were immediately closed and police have not said when they will reopen. Goldring tweeted that Burlington “has made traffic signal adjustments to help with the flow of traffic through the city” and would further review the situation Friday morning.
It appears the truck’s bed was raised, causing it to hit the scaffolding.
Provincial police say the driver suffered minor injuries.
