HOUSTON (AP) — Game six of the American League Championship Series is tonight in Houston with the Astros taking on the Yankees. The Astros trail the series three games to two after the Yankees won all three games in New York.
CHIVAGO (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers are heading to the World Series for the first time in three decades after eliminating the defending champion Chicago Cubs 11-1 in Game 5 of the National league Championship Series. Utility player Enrique Hernandez homered three times and drove in a record seven runs. Clayton Kershaw got the win. Game one of the World Series is Tuesday.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — With their season on the line following the recent slump, Derek Carr led an 85-yard touchdown drive in the final 2:25 to give the Oakland Raiders (3-4) a thrilling, 31-30 comeback win over the Kansas City Chiefs in a game they trailed by nine points heading into the fourth quarter. Carr got two extra chances after time had run out thanks to a pair of defensive holding calls against the Chiefs. He threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree on the final play.
HOUSTON (AP) — There was one Top 25 college football game Thursday night. Riley Ferguson threw for 471 yards and had a 21-yard TD pass with 1:28 left, Patrick Taylor rushed for a career-high four touchdowns and No. 25 Memphis overcame a 17-point deficit to beat Houston 42-38. Memphis racked up 501 total yards.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Blake Griffin scored 29 points, DeAndre Jordan added 14 points and 24 rebounds, and the Los Angeles Clippers spoiled Lonzo Ball’s NBA debut with a 108-92 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night. The highly touted Ball, the second overall pick in the draft, had a quiet night with three points, four assists and nine rebounds in 29 minutes.
