SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) _ Todd Burgan scored 17 of his 23 points in the last 13 minutes Thursday night, carrying No. 19 Syracuse to an 82-78 victory over No. 25 Texas Christian in the second round of the Puerto Rico Holiday Classic.

With Burgan leading the way, the Orangemen (12-0) overcame a six-point deficit. Burgan tied the game 67-67 on a dunk with 6:54 remaining and gave Syracuse its first lead at 69-67 with two free throws.

The Orangemen led by only one point with two minutes left but Burgan hit four free throws during a 5-0 spurt as Syracuse built an 82-76 lead with 17 seconds left.

Burgan also had nine rebounds, four steals and four assists.

Syracuse plays Michigan in the tournament championship game Friday night. TCU (10-2) meets American University of Puerto Rico in the third-place game.

TCU led 51-42 with 16:59 left before Burgan, a senior guard, rallied the Orangemen.

Marius Janulis scored 18 points for Syracuse and Ryan Blackwell had 16 points and 13 rebounds. Jason Hart had 12 points and five assists for the Orangemen.

TCU was paced by Lee Nailon with 28 points and 13 rebounds. Malcolm Johnson had 22 points for the Horned Frogs. Dennis Davis had 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Syracuse shot 44.6 percent for the game and TCU 41.3 percent. The Orangemen made 7-of-19 from 3-point range and TCU only 5-of-26. Syracuse also enjoyed an edge at the free throw line, making 17-of-27 compared to the Horned Frogs' 7-of-11.

The Horned Frogs led throughout the first half, but never by more than six points, until Syracuse tied it 38-38 on Janulis' 3-pointer with 50 seconds remaining. TCU took a 41-38 halftime lead when Johnson made a 3-pointer with 11 seconds left.
