North Augusta man arrested after shooting son, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office says
A North Augusta man was recently arrested after allegedly shooting his son.
Jeffrey Thomas Lacey, 60, is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to jail records.
On Monday night, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 701 W. Five Notch Road in North Augusta where they found a person shot in the hand and suffering from a head injury, according to a Tuesday morning statement from the Sheriff’s Office.
The person was taken to the hospital in stable condition, police said.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the person told police he and his father — Lacey — were earlier arguing, and the argument led to the shooting.
A preliminary investigation led to the arrest of Lacey, the statement says.
Lacey was taken to the Aiken County detention center, where he remains as of Tuesday afternoon. He was booked without incident, the Sheriff’s Office noted.
