BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) _ Procter & Gamble Co. said Friday it will spend about $80 million to expand a potato chip factory in Belgium.

Two additional production lines are being added to the Mechelen plant, creating 120 new jobs, said site director Anaat Martens. He said the expansion is aimed at meeting growing demand for Pringles chips.

``The Mechelen factory produces for about 37 countries in the world, and the business of Pringles continues to be successful and we need to increase capacity,'' Martens said.

The expansion began two months ago and the first Pringles will be produced on the new lines in September, he said.

The factory in Mechelen, about 18 miles north of Brussels, also produces detergent for Cincinnati-based P&G.
