Ironton Farmers Market opens this week
IRONTON — For all those tastebuds that have been waiting out the winter to a test of fresh, local produce, the time has come: The Ironton Farmers Market will be starting its seventh season on Friday, May 3.
“The market has added some new vendors and it should be another exciting season,” Market Manager and Ironton aLive executive director Sam Heighton said in a news release.
“All of the vendors you have gotten to know will be bringing those items you’ve gotten to know. You’ll find flowers, honey, baked goods, some spring produce, starter plants, homemade jewelry and other homemade items such as soap, jellies, jams, maple syrup, and a few surprises.
“Come out Friday and Saturday and welcome our family of vendors back for another season,” Heighton said.
Again this year, shoppers can expect some special entertainment and events at the market.
The second Saturday, Ironton in Bloom will once again serve free food to thank the community for its support.
The market is open every 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. — or sold out — every Friday and Saturday through the end of October.
The Ironton Farmers Market is a project of Ironton aLive and sponsored by Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
