Florence Symphony Orchestra concert features ‘Bolero,’ Paolo Gauldi
FLORENCE, S.C. – The Florence Symphony Orchestra will present “Bolero” at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center in downtown Florence.
This is the fourth concert of the FSO’s 70th year, the “Platinum Season,” and it will feature pianist Paolo Gualdi playing “Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor, op. 21.”
“This is thrilling to be performing such a wonderful piece,” Gauldi said. “It has been a dream of mine to play this since I was a little kid.
“The Florence Symphony has a special meaning to me. I’ve been living in Florence and working at FMU for the past 10 years, and it’s nice to be back home playing among friends.”
The second half of the concert will feature three prominent works by French composer Maurice Ravel: “La Valse,” “Pavane Pour Une Infante Défunte” and “Bolero.”
