Rollover crash closes lanes on Route 8 in Shelton
A rollover accident closed two northbound lanes in Shelton Tuesday morning.
The accident, reported at 8:17 a.m.,, has closed the two right lanes between Exits 12 and 13.
About 20 minutes later, the lanes reopened, but there were still heavy residual delays.
At the peak of the AM rush hour, there are heavy southbound delays on Route 8 with speeds crawling in the single numbers.
Southbound traffic was backed up to the Commodore Issac Hull Bridge.
Northbound traffic is also congested in the northbound lanes for nearly three miles.
At 8:40 a.m., the state Department of Transportation says its taking nearly 20 minutes to travel the eight miles between the Merritt Parkway in Trumbull and Route 34 in Derby.
