Man Who Fatally Beat Jeffrey Dahmer Calls It A Paid Hit
MILWAUKEE (AP) _ A prisoner charged with fatally beating Jeffrey Dahmer and another inmate said he was hired to do it by a fellow convict.
Christopher L. Scarver is accused of bludgeoning Dahmer and wife-killer Jesse Anderson on Nov. 28 at Columbia state prison in Portage. Scarver has pleaded insanity.
Prison documents released Tuesday in response to a lawsuit said an informant reported overhearing Scarver tell another inmate he wanted money owed him for the slayings. Scarver, according to the documents, also said another inmate told him to attack the two.
The lawsuit was filed by the Milwaukee Sentinel and WTMJ-TV.
Another inmate told investigators that several other inmates were involved in the slayings. But the Department of Corrections said later that inmate lacked credibility.
Dahmer was charged in the deaths and dismemberment of 17 men and boys in Milwaukee. Scarver, 25, is serving a life term for shooting a man in the head three times during a 1990 robbery.
