Drive-Through Nativity returns
The story of the Nativity brings to mind a manger, an inn, donkeys, camels, a desert setting and possibly an angel or two. The desert was easy — the rest of it took a little work.
New Hope Calvary Church will open its annual Drive-Through Nativity tonight, with hundreds of actors to play each part in one-hour shifts, according to former manager of the event, Bob Chiapuzio.
Twenty-five volunteers gathered at the location Wednesday afternoon to erect the scenes, will re-enact biblical scenes for motorists.
Entry will be directed south from Retail Centre Boulevard to New Hope Calvary Church, where Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies will control traffic into the event. According to Chiapuzio, visitors to the Drive-Through Nativity will arrive as early as 5 p.m.
Camels, donkeys and other animals will be brought to New Hope Calvary Church this afternoon in preparation for the event, which is scheduled to take place today and Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at 3735 North London Bridge Road.
Visitors to the Drive-Through Nativity will be able to hear broadcasts from the event today and Saturday on 87.9 FM radio.
