Ohio gubernatorial election results history, statewide and by county (database)

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Find Ohio gubernatorial election results statewide, or for each county, with the searchable database below.

Republicans have won six of the last seven races, starting with George Voinovich’s victory over Anthony Celebrezze in 1990.

But the trends by county are a little different. Democrats have won the Cuyahoga County vote in four of the seven races during the same time. And in Franklin County, Democrats have won the vote in two of the last three elections.

Explore the database to see election results statewide going back to 1867 when a future president named Rutherford B. Hayes defeated Allen G. Thurman, or find results by each county since 1990.

In some rare cases, including with John Kasich in 2010 and James Rhodes in 1974 and 1978, the winner was elected governor without collecting 50 percent of the vote. This is because of some votes for third-party or independent candidates.
