Agents recover meth from Alabama man who fled arrest on foot
GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) — Authorities in Alabama say they recovered nearly 2 ounces (56 grams) of methamphetamine from a man who fled arrest.
AL.com reports Etowah County Drug Enforcement says in a statement that 25-year-old Westphaleon Bernardo Thomas was charged with drug trafficking Monday.
The release says agents learned Thomas had a “substantial amount” of meth and approached him while he was standing outside his vehicle. Officials say he ran when the agents introduced themselves.
After a brief foot Pursuit, agents arrested Thomas and recovered 56 grams of meth.
Thomas could face additional state and federal charges related to the drugs and a firearm seized during the arrest. It’s unclear whether he has a lawyer.
