“Mrs. Pat” emphasizes sportsmanship, skills
NORTH AUGUSTA — One of the summer’s final sports camps took place this past week, continuing a tradition buoyed by Pat Carpenter, one of North Augusta’s most prominent residents.
Carpenter, a North Augusta City Council member and longtime youth coach, offers an annual program dedicated (for one group) to cheerleading and (for another group) basketball, all under the roof of Riverview Park Activities Center. Her supporting cast this year included coaches representing North Augusta and Fox Creek high schools as well as Paul Knox and North Augusta middle schools.
This year’s offering had 35 learners on board for cheerleading and 16 for basketball, all from Monday through Thursday, with the Thursday session included a performance for parents.
