Jean Cruguet rode five winners, including Intensify in the $36,000 Bron
Undated (AP) _ Jean Cruguet rode five winners, including Intensify in the $36,000 Bronze Jet Purse, in six mounts Monday at Belmont Park.
Brookfield Farm’s Intensify rallied from off the pace and beat A Gift, the favorite, by a head. Don MacBeth, who rode the favored A Gift, claimed foul, alleging that Intensify, impeded his mount in the stretch. But the stewards disallowed it.
Intensify, making his first start since Oct. 20, covered the seven-furlong Widener turf course in 1:23 under 115 pounds and paid $15.60, $7 and $4.60. A Gift, 117, paid $4 and $3.20, while Dominating Dooley, 117, who finished 23/4 lengths behind the runner-up, returned $6.40.
The French-born Cruguet’s other winners came in the second with Revelrout, $7, the fourth with Love Bravely, $9.60, the sixth with Aerialist, $9.40, and the seventh with Carry, $15.80. He failed to finish in the money in the third race and had no mounts in the first and ninth.
Pretty Tricky slipped through along the rail in the stretch for a half- length victory over Babbling Brook in the $10,000 Singing Susan Purse at Pimlico.
Ben Feliciano rode the 2-1 favorite in the field of 10 2-year-old fillies over six furlongs in 1:13 4-5.
Babbling Brook finished nearly three lengths in front of Flip.
Pretty Tricky paid $6, $4.40 and $3. Babbling Brook returned $5.80 and $4, Flip was $6.80 to show.
Susafun, a 10-1 shot, captured a 31/4 l-ength victory in the $18,125 Princess Zen Purse in the Arlington Park meeting held at Hawthorne Race Course.
Susa B. was second in the mile turf race for Illinois-bred fillies and mares.
T’ang Empress, the 2-5 favorite, finished third in field of ten horses. It was the first grass race for T’ang Express.
Susafun, ridden by jockey Kerwin Clark, paid $23.60, $12.00 and $3.80.
Susa B. returned $7.20 and $2.40. Supporters of T’ang Empress paid $2.20 to show.
