TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) _ A moderate earthquake shook southern Taiwan on Monday, seismologists said. No damage or injuries were immediately reported.

The 4.5-magnitude quake's epicenter was about 12 miles south of the city of Taitung, 155 miles south of Taipei, the Central Weather Bureau said.

Thousands of minor tremors and aftershocks have been recorded since a 7.6-magnitude quake hit central Taiwan two years ago, killing about 2,400 people and destroying thousands of homes.

A 4-magnitude quake can cause moderate damage.
