W.Va. litter cleanup program accepting applications
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection is accepting applications for its annual volunteer litter cleanup event on streams and public lands.
The DEP says in a news release the application deadline for the Make It Shine program is March 8. Applications can be downloaded on the agency’s website.
The program will provide cleanup materials and other resources to community groups during the first two weeks of April.
Last year’s cleanup drew 4,900 volunteers who removed nearly 120 tons of litter, including more than 1,400 tires.
