Two Israelis Wounded in Bomb Blast
JERUSALEM (AP) _ Two Israelis were wounded when a bomb exploded on a beach in the northern resort town of Tiberias, police said Saturday.
Three Arabs were being questioned, they said.
Tiberias police spokesman Dan Taviv said the explosion occurred late Friday as a group of young people were walking along a Sea of Galilee beach. He said an off-duty Israeli soldier and his girlfriend suffered slight injuries in the blast and were taken to a nearby hospital.
Israel army radio identified the injured as Eyal Banita, 19, and his girlfriend Nurit Levy, 17.
″I saw someone suspicious on the beach, and as I went to see who it was, something exploded,″ Banita told the national Itim news agency. ″The blast was terrible, and I jumped high into the air.″
Banita told Itim he was hurt in his eye and chest. Ms. Levy was treated for light wounds and then released, Itim reported.
Police and bomb experts rushed to the area, Taviv said. He said police had arrested eight Arabs in the bombing but later released five.
