BNF swimmers compete at state meet
The Beatrice Co-op swimming and diving team will have one individual and one team competing Saturday’s races of the NSAA State Swimming meet.
BNF’s Mikwena Lierman was able to reach the finals of the 50-freestyle. Her preliminary time of 24.74 was seventh best in the field. She will be looking to earn a medal on Saturday.
The girls 200-medley relay team of Maya Moran, Crystal Craft, Mikasa Lierman and Mikwena Lierman finished with a time of 1:55.77, which was the 16th fastest time. That qualifies them for the consolation swim on Saturday.
The 200-freestyle relay team of Mikasa Lierman, Crystal Craft, Laci Havlat and Mikwena Lierman finished with a time of 1:43.91. That was the 17th best time, which makes them the first alternate for Saturday’s consolation swim.
The 400-freestyle relay team of Mikasa Lierman, Laci Havlat, Mikwena Lierman and Maya Moran also finished with the 17th best time of 3:52.29, which also makes them the first alternate.
On the boys side, the 200-medley relay team if Ian Scheele, Jacob Mason, Colton Starck and Michael Walsh finished with the 22nd best preliminary time, which was short of qualifying for Saturday.
The 200-freestyle relay team of RJ Suey, Michael Walsh, Cameron Knepp and Jacob Mason finished 26th and the 400-freestyle relay team of Jacob Mason, Cameron Knepp, RJ Suey and Colton Starck finished 21st. Both teams fell short of qualifying for Saturday.
Colton Starck competed in several events. He finished with the 19th best time in the 100-butterfly, which was just short of qualifying for Saturday. He finished 28th best time in the 50-freestyle
Mikasa Lierman competed in the 50-freestyle, finishing 19th. That finish was just shy of qualifying as an alternate for the consolation swim.
Maya Moran competed in the preliminaries of the 100-freestyle. She finished with the 22nd best time, which was short of qualifying for Saturday’s swims.
Moran also competed in the 100-backstroke. She finished with the 25th best preliminary time, which was short of qualifying for Saturday.
Crystal Craft competed in the 100-breaststroke and finished with the 28th best preliminary time, which also fell short of qualifying for Saturday.
Consolation and finals swims are schedule to begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The 200-medley relay will be the first event to be raced. Mikwena Lierman will swim a few events later in the 50-freestyle.
