Ohio gambling revenue tops $158 million in July, led by Hard Rock Rocksino

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Gambling revenue at Ohio’s casinos and racinos totaled $158.6 million in July, an increase of 2.7 percent over July a year ago, according to reports released Tuesday by Ohio’s lottery and casino control commissions.

The growth was the result of gains for Ohio’s seven slots-only racinos, where revenue was up 5.2 percent to $88.9 million. Revenue at Ohio’s four casinos, which include table games, slipped 0.3 percent to $69.7 million.

No. 1 for revenue in the state again was the Hard Rock Rocksino in Northfield. The facility, which was purchased for $1 billion by MGM Growth Properties on July 6, had slots revenue after paying out winnings of $22.5 million in July.

This was an increase from $22.3 million in July 2017.

The other racino in the Cleveland area, JACK Thistledown in North Randall, had revenue of $10.6 million, up from $10.1 million in July 2017.

Among the full casinos, Hollywood Columbus led the way with revenue after paying out winnings of $19.4 million in July, up from $18.7 million in the same month last year.

JACK Cleveland Casino had revenue of $16 million last month, down from $16.9 million in July 2017.
