HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) — A Holyoke man charged with shooting another city resident in the back on Easter Sunday following a fierce argument over drugs has been held without bail.
Alejandro Rosario pleaded not guilty Monday in Holyoke District Court to murder in the April 4 shooting of Luis Burgos.
Investigators say the 25-year-old Rosario was selling heroin to Burgos, and Burgos refused to pay, which prompted the argument.
Police say as the 30-year-old Burgos was walking back to his car when Rosario went back inside a building, came out with a gun and shot the victim.
Rosario told police he felt threatened by Burgos, who he said was also armed.
The slaying was the second in the city this year.
Rosario is scheduled back in court May 11.
