Robert Flores

Robert L. “Chico” Flores, 82, of Manteno, passed away Sunday (Sept. 30, 2018) at home.

He was born May 26, 1936, in Dixmoor, the son of Ignacio and Madeline Fanara Flores. Robert married Elizabeth Kalkbrenner on Jan. 30, 1957, in Harvey.

Robert was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 40 years of service. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Grant Park. Robert enjoyed golfing, traveling, baseball and officiating for various sporting events. He was a member of the National Sports Officials Association and South Suburban Officiating Association.

Surviving are his wife, of Manteno; son, Robert David Flores, of Campbell, Calif.; daughters, Kimberly and Dan Knittel, of Tacoma, Wash., Kathy Devitt, of Manteno, and Kelly Lumsden, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; sisters, Arlene and Tony Ramos, of Thornton, Carol and Joel Ramirez, of Park Forest, and Virginia Eckel, of Garland, Texas; brothers, Art Flores, of Rensselaer, Ind., and Russell and Cathy Flores, of Berwyn; grandchildren, Alexandrea Graves, of West Hollywood, Calif., Bailey Graves, of Tacoma, Caitlyn Graves, of Tacoma, William Devitt and Aakanksha Bhargava, of Yuma City, Calif., Zachary Devitt, of Manteno, and Hannah Lumsden, of Cheyenne.

Preceding him in death was a brother, Richard Flores.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Brown-Jensen Funeral Home in Manteno. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Grant Park, with the Rev. Cory Estby officiating.

There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, at Zion Lutheran Church in Grant Park.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Grant Park, Zion Ladies Aid or Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
